August 16th, 1995

On August 16, 1995, Cell 63 and Love Arrow Records hosted a show at the Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park, located at Sherman Way and Topanga Canyon. By this time, the venue had transitioned into more of a pop-up space, hosting shows less frequently. The event featured performances by The Gain, Super Celtic, Eleventeen (San Francisco, California), and Makeshift. Super Celtic’s fusion of punk and Irish folk that would later become popularized by bands like the Dropkick Murphys.

Joey Travers, bassist for The Gain, would go on to become a tattoo artist, working alongside Nathan for years at Nathan’s Tattoos and Piercings, located just a few miles from the Cobalt Cafe. Though their relationship began earlier, when Nathan toured with the Gain.
