May 11th, 1994

This is the back of the Valley College Monarch Hall flyer for the Cell 63 benefit show on May 11th, 1994, held at Valley College Monarch Hall (with a map included), was in association with the Valley College Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Coalition. All proceeds from the event were donated to AIDS for AIDS, supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. The show featured performances by Naked Aggression, Antioch Arrow, Kittens for Christians, The Dave Stone Solo Trio, and U.X.A.

The flyer also included an article titled “Continuing Saga of Food Not Bombs” and listed a series of phone numbers for local companies and activist groups, including an “anti-graffiti organization” and “People Against Racist Terror.” One notable number was for Mad About Rising Crime, an organization created in response to the tragic death of Marc Squires, who was a classmate of Nathan’s in Granada Hills. This reflects the event’s broader commitment to activism, social justice, and community support.

At the heart of the flyer was a powerful quote: “All the statements and articles on this page are meant to instigate thought and promote activism. So I encourage you to go out and promote your ideas and beliefs, even if they are different than everyone else's…Voice your beliefs, before that's against the law.” This statement reinforces the punk rock ethos of independent thought, activism, and standing up for personal beliefs, even when faced with opposition.
